My wonderful wife made the dress Emily Kate is wearing in the photo above. She wore it several times around Thanksgiving and we couldn’t go anywhere with out people telling us how cute the dress was and how cute Emily Kate looked wearing it. I told Jen that she needs to start making them and selling them on eBay!

Virginia Beach Fun

Posted by Chad on Jun 30, 2009

We went to Virginia Beach in June and had a good time introducing Emily to the Atlantic Ocean. We only stayed one night so it was a short trip but it was fun. We got lots of good pictures and a few good videos. One of them I almost feel bad posting online but it is pretty funny once you get past the shock of it. We stayed in a nice hotel over looking the beach. Come to find out Marriott gives a pretty good military discount. We got 40% knocked off the room rate. They had a really nice pool but Emily Kate wasn’t to interested in swimming.

So here are the videos, make sure you watch the top one first…

Peek-A-Boo!

This video was taken on March 29th, 2009. What a joy! She actually played for a lot longer than what it shows in the video… we were just slow getting the camera out.

My Baby Girl!

Emily is doing great! She is sitting up and considering crawling. She gets on all fours some but ultimately ends up just pushing herself backwards. She got to meet all the Johnson side of the family in March and will get to meet even more when we go to Hoxie is July. We’ll be there for the Sheridan County Fair. Below is a fun photo us playing!

Visitors

Posted by Chad on Mar 11, 2009

Jen and I have played host to several visitors lately. My parents left on Monday after being here for 5 days. While they were here my Aunt Ione and Uncle Guy visited for 2 days. My brother and his wife will be here Saturday and will be staying for a week. A couple weeks ago we hosted my friend Joe who is going through Marine Corps Officer Training at Quantico. We’ve had some issues though… our main line drain backed up so we had a bit of sewage come up the drains in our basement. As you can imagine that was not very pleasant. Thankfully we have a good landlord and he had someone out the next day to fix it. Those plumbers charged him $330 dollars an hour for the work. What a rip. Along with an annoying housing association, and trying to figure out my taxes… March is turning out to be a busy month.

Here’s a few pictures from the grandparents visit:

Emily is Growing!

Posted by Chad on Feb 08, 2009

Emily had her 6 month check up recently and she was 27 ¼ inches long and weighed 16 pounds. That put her in the 95th percentile for height! Jen and I were doing some cleaning over the weekend and we found some of the newborn size diapers she wore when we first brought her home and it was hard to believe she even fit into them.

Whole New Meaning

Posted by Chad on Jan 20, 2009

I went to the wedding of a good friend mine from college over the weekend. It was the first time I had seen many of my college friends since I graduated. It was a great wedding and a good time. It was also the first wedding I have been to since the birth of my daughter. Seeing the Father of the Bride walk her down the isle has a whole new meaning now that I am a father. I really think it is only something dads can understand, the love one has for their child is not easily expressed in mere words. I am not sure why, but it really hit me when they did the Father/Daughter dance at the reception. I was just filled with emotion as I imagined the moment, at some point in the future, when I’ll be dancing with my daughter on her wedding day. All I have to say is that it will have to be one special man to take my daughter’s hand in marriage. That is why my wife and I both spend time at the end of each day praying for our daughter, and among those prayers are prayers for our future son-in-law.

Laughing Baby

This is a video of Emily laughing hysterically at our dog Rascal.  Jen was home alone so she had to film and get her to laugh.  It is still pretty hilarious even though it is understandably a bit shaky.
